Senior Spacecraft GNC Engineer I (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. This role is based at hirify.global’s global headquarters and is for candidates seeking to work in U.S. offices. U.S. citizenship is required; ITAR eligibility and an active Secret clearance are required.

Base salary: $132,000–$198,000 USD per year in California.

What you will do

• Lead GNC and ADCS development across spacecraft concepts, algorithms, flight software, subsystem requirements, detailed design, and vehicle integration and test.
• Mentor engineers responsible for GNC design, modeling, and analysis across LEO, MEO, GEO, lunar, interplanetary, reentry, and RPOD missions.
• Design flight software, algorithms, simulations, spacecraft autonomy tools, and constellation management capabilities.
• Select GNC components and define fault detection, response, and subsystem architectures.
• Develop and execute test processes, including hardware-in-the-loop and Monte Carlo simulations.
• Coordinate with Systems, Avionics, Flight Software, Mission Operations, Ground Software, program managers, and customers while maintaining schedules and milestones.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of industry experience in GNC or ADCS.
• Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
• Prior direct interaction with commercial or government aerospace customers.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
• Ability to work in a U.S. office and meet applicable ITAR authorization requirements.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD and active TS/SCI clearance.
• RPOD design and operations experience, GNC hardware experience, and blended attitude solution development.
• Flight software development, verification, spacecraft on-orbit operations, and anomaly resolution experience.
• Jira planning, team mentoring, project lifecycle leadership, and experience managing multiple projects.
• GNC-related business development or conceptual design experience.
