Intern - Data Science

Location: Bayan Lepas, Penang, Malaysia; onsite at the Bayan Lepas PN1 facility

What you will do

• Assist in building an automated system to track Off-hold status and reduce manual data compilation.
• Apply basic data extraction and cleaning techniques to Factory Quality Assurance Process data.
• Create simple reports or dashboards showing Off-hold tracking results.
• Work with team members to understand existing manual workflows and validate automated outputs against manual records.
• Document completed work and share progress in team meetings.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
• Be in the penultimate or final year of study.
• Basic knowledge of at least one programming language, such as Python or R.
• Basic data handling skills, including sorting, filtering, and fundamental analysis.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Commitment to an internship lasting 3–6 months and onsite work in Bayan Lepas, Malaysia.

Nice to have

• Exposure to data analysis through coursework or personal projects.
• Basic familiarity with databases or SQL.
• Interest in automation or process improvement.
• Willingness to learn visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
