Direct Procurement Specialist – Metal Commodity (Automotive)

Location: Novi, Michigan, United States; 4–5 days per week in the office with regular in-person meetings and occasional travel.

Salary: $90,000–$115,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Identify suitable suppliers for parts and services and participate in pre-sourcing audits.
• Develop metal commodity sourcing strategies and lead supplier selection to meet piece-price and tooling targets.
• Lead sourcing presentations, negotiate contracts, and prepare nomination agreements.
• Manage supplier industrialization during pre-production, ensuring timing, cost, quality, and project requirements.
• Evaluate technical changes and coordinate supplier readiness for mass production with Quality, Engineering, and Logistics.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance through key metrics.

Requirements

• 4+ years of purchasing experience developing and executing procurement commodity strategies.
• Negotiation experience in automotive OEM or Tier 1 direct purchasing.
• Knowledge of metal commodities such as stampings, welded sub-assemblies, castings, forgings, steel or aluminum coils, wheels, fasteners, brakes, suspension, or related components.
• Knowledge of automotive, manufacturing, or related industries, with supplier performance and program management experience.
• Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, multitasking, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Novi, Michigan 4–5 days per week and travel occasionally.
