Director, Business Intelligence – Finance

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States. Hybrid office-first model requiring at least four days on-site per week.

Salary: $190,000–$260,000 USD annually, plus potential bonus, stock options, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the multi-year Finance Business Intelligence strategy, including pipeline architecture, self-service analytics, governance, and board-level reporting.
• Hire and develop the first business intelligence engineers, data scientists, and analysts.
• Develop predictive modeling, AI-powered anomaly detection, driver-based forecasting, and scenario simulation.
• Partner with Finance executives to translate strategic priorities into data infrastructure investments and delivery roadmaps.
• Establish prioritization, delivery, data governance, ownership, and quality frameworks for Finance data work.
• Evaluate Finance data-stack tools, platforms, and integrations with the CTO and Data Platform team.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Data Science, or Financial Technology, including 4+ years leading data teams.
• Experience building and scaling multidisciplinary data functions from the ground up in a high-growth technology or operations-intensive company.
• Executive presence and fluent data storytelling skills, with the ability to connect quantitative findings to business decisions.
• Technical foundation in Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Spark, Looker or Tableau, AWS or GCP, statistical modeling, and predictive analytics.
• Strong expertise in model validation, forecasting accuracy, statistical significance, hypothesis-driven analysis, data governance, and data quality.
• Experience building AI/ML-augmented Finance analytics, including anomaly detection, intelligent forecasting, and automated variance analysis.

Nice to have

• Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field; an advanced quantitative degree is a plus.
• Experience with ERP, EPM, and FP&A tools such as Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, or Pigment.
• Experience with Python, R, or SAS and evaluating data science work from senior individual contributors.
• Knowledge of AP, AR, GL, revenue recognition, close cycles, FP&A, experimentation, and forecast-accuracy measurement.
• Experience with multi-vertical or multi-entity Finance environments, including parking, aviation, retail, or similar operational businesses.
