Credit Risk Strategy Manager or Senior Manager (Fintech)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; on-site

Annual salary: $150,000–$210,000 plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Own credit strategy for the existing cardholder portfolio, balancing growth, credit risk, exposure, and customer experience.
• Define policies for credit line increases, decreases, balance transfers, spend campaigns, and other portfolio management actions.
• Develop loss forecasting, delinquency monitoring, automated KPI dashboards, feedback loops, and measurement infrastructure.
• Design and execute A/B tests to evaluate portfolio strategies and improve performance.
• Partner with data science and engineering to define features, evaluate models, and implement production decisioning tools and APIs.
• Coordinate with Compliance, Legal, brand partners, and bank partners to ensure policy compliance and secure approval for new strategies and models.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience in credit risk strategy, portfolio management, or underwriting at a financial institution, fintech, or payments company.
• Deep expertise in consumer credit portfolio management, including credit line management, utilization dynamics, or loss forecasting.
• Experience using behavioral and bureau data to develop and optimize credit strategies.
• Strong SQL and analytics skills for evaluating credit strategies, tracking portfolio performance, and identifying emerging risks.
• Familiarity with regression and tree-based credit risk models and production decision engines.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex credit trade-offs into clear recommendations for executives, partners, and compliance teams.
