Apprentice Pipefitter

Location: Rochester, New York; onsite work and classroom instruction typically at MCC

Salary: $17.00 per hour, with $1 per hour increases every 6 months after satisfactory performance reviews; Journey Worker increase upon graduation.

What you will do

• Fabricate and install piping systems for water, steam, air, liquids, and gases.
• Alter, remodel, and repair existing piping systems.
• Measure, cut, bend, weld, braze, caulk, solder, glue, and thread pipe joints.
• Apply construction-site safety practices while developing high-level pipefitting craftsmanship.
• Complete on-the-job training and classroom instruction in a five-year accredited apprenticeship program.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma, such as TASC or GED.
• One year of Algebra or equivalent.
• Reliable transportation to work and school.
• Ability to pass a drug test and background check.
• Ability to climb, work at heights and in confined spaces, lift or move heavy objects, and work in hot, cold, and all-weather conditions.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, follow detailed instructions, and work a flexible schedule including overtime and occasional travel.
