TL;DR
Plant Manager, Engineering Operations (Nuclear Energy): Managing the construction, commissioning, start-up, and ongoing operation of a complex chemical plant supporting fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor technology with an accent on process safety, hazardous-material handling, and operational readiness. Focus on developing operating procedures, leading system handovers and commissioning, building production teams, and resolving technical issues across plant operations.

What you will do

  • Monitor plant construction and verify implementation against approved designs.
  • Identify and resolve operating issues during construction and prepare the plant for operational handover.
  • Develop operating procedures, QA/QC protocols, management-of-change processes, system definitions, and handover packages.
  • Lead process commissioning, system acceptance, unit start-up planning, and plant start-up execution.
  • Build and manage production engineering and operator teams, including hiring and training.
  • Procure start-up materials, consumables, safety equipment, and personnel equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years managing operations for newly constructed chemical plants handling acids, bases, toxic chemicals, or similar hazardous materials.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience managing up to 30 direct reports, including engineers and operators.
  • Experience commissioning complex chemical plants and managing technical issues in diverse teams.
  • Participation in PHA reviews and experience with HAZOP, PSM where applicable, QA/QC, and management-of-change processes.
  • Work authorization must satisfy Department of Energy Part 810 export-control access requirements; some foreign nationals may require a DOE license.

Nice to have

  • Experience in oil and gas, chemical production, factory manufacturing, or a similar industry.
  • Ability to obtain forklift and boom lift certification.
