Backend Developer (Python, Fintech)

What you will do

• Design, develop, and enhance backend components and services supporting the Tax Information Reporting Suite and Core Services.
• Own backend architecture, data-processing workflows, and integrations across platforms.
• Participate in release and sprint planning, collaborating with product, QA, DevOps, and engineering stakeholders.
• Develop SQL queries and stored procedures, debug production issues, and deliver timely fixes.
• Write unit tests and ensure reliable, maintainable, standards-compliant software.
• Communicate progress, risks, and technical challenges while contributing to continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–6 years of backend development experience with Python and/or Perl scripting.
• Strong experience with relational databases, advanced SQL, and complex stored procedures.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and clean code practices.
• Experience with Git, SVN, or similar version control systems.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure or other cloud platforms.
• Experience supporting large-scale or regulated production systems.
• Exposure to DevOps practices, automation, performance tuning, and scalability improvements.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and promoting engineering best practices.
