Salary: $146,400–$183,000 for Research Scientist II; $162,800–$203,500 for Senior Scientist, annually

What you will do

• Train, fine-tune, and evaluate machine learning models for drug discovery applications.
• Optimize model performance and assess how models can support scientific decision-making.
• Collaborate with computational chemists, medicinal chemists, biologists, and drug discovery teams during design-make-test-analyze cycles.
• Generate value from machine learning models for internal teams and external partners.
• Communicate scientific results, technical challenges, and model insights to diverse audiences.
• Gather analytical feedback and provide domain-driven guidance for the evolution of machine learning models.

Requirements

• PhD or equivalent degree in chemistry or another physical science, with 3+ years of experience or equivalent education and professional experience.
• Familiarity with statistical analysis techniques for evaluating, troubleshooting, and adapting models in scientific contexts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex scientific and technical concepts clearly.
• Skills in Python programming, statistics, and drug discovery.
• Ability to work onsite at the San Diego headquarters.

Nice to have

• PhD or equivalent degree in computational chemistry or machine learning in chemistry.
• 3+ years of experience working on a drug discovery project.
