Location: Onsite opportunities in Alameda, California; Albuquerque, New Mexico; or Oak Ridge, Tennessee
Salary: $31β$35 per hour for employees working onsite at the Alameda headquarters; rates may vary by work location, education, experience, and skills.

What you will do
- Develop, verify, and validate analytical tools, computational models, and engineering methods for reactor safety and performance analyses.
- Perform engineering analyses in areas including reactor physics, radiation transport, thermal hydraulics, structural mechanics, CFD, materials, and nuclear safety.
- Support research and technology development for the Hermes Reactor and future commercial reactor fleet.
- Compare models with experimental data, benchmark problems, or reference solutions.
- Analyze engineering data and prepare technical reports, calculations, presentations, and project documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and participate in technical reviews and cross-functional discussions.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Engineering Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field focused on nuclear reactor applications.
- Knowledge of engineering fundamentals such as reactor physics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, or radiation transport.
- Familiarity with scientific computing, computational modeling, numerical methods, and engineering simulation tools.
- Programming or scripting experience with Python, MATLAB, C++, Fortran, or similar tools is desirable.
- Ability to analyze engineering or experimental data, prepare accurate technical documentation, and collaborate across engineering disciplines.
- Work requires authorization to access Department of Energy Part 810-controlled information; certain foreign nationals may require an export control license.
Nice to have
- Technical experience from laboratory work, research, extracurricular projects, personal projects, or prior internships.
- Exposure to neutronics, thermal hydraulics, structural mechanics, CFD, fuel performance, licensing, or nuclear safety analysis.
