TL;DR
Flight Software Engineer V (Aerospace): Developing, integrating, and maintaining high-reliability flight software and embedded applications for spacecraft payloads, ground sensors, and engineering tools with an accent on embedded processing architectures, RTOS, and software qualification. Focus on designing efficient and scalable algorithms, building CI/CD and configuration-management practices, and supporting certification, integration, and audit activities.

Location: Louisville, Colorado, United States; flexible for occasional telework, but candidates must be local to the work location.

Salary: $134,299.64–$233,521.01 annually.

What you will do

  • Lead development, integration, and maintenance of complex ground and space payload software.
  • Develop embedded applications and algorithms for microcontrollers, processors, GPUs, and system-on-chip devices.
  • Maintain source control, configuration management, and CI/CD pipelines for software build, testing, and deployment.
  • Participate in technical design reviews, code inspections, hardware-software integration tests, and performance optimization.
  • Support flight-software qualification and certification activities, including documentation and audit evidence.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers, scientists, program leads, and multidisciplinary development teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, or a related field, plus 10–12 years of relevant experience; equivalent requirements include an MS with 8–10 years or a PhD with 5–7 years.
  • Experience developing software for high-reliability space or aerospace applications and supporting products through all development phases.
  • Strong knowledge of embedded systems, operating systems, RTOS, and C, C++, Python, and Bash.
  • Experience with Git-based source control and continuous integration and continuous delivery systems.
  • Familiarity with Podman, Docker, Docker Compose, TCP/IP, UDP, serial communication, routing, and message queues.
  • Must be local to Louisville, Colorado for the hybrid work arrangement.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting national defense, NASA, or commercial aerospace customers.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and implementation in flight software and supporting systems.
  • Knowledge of orbital mechanics, perturbations, and spacecraft payload interactions.
