Staff Software Engineer (TypeScript)

What you will do

• Set technical direction and lead complex cross-functional initiatives from architectural decisions through production ownership.
• Design reliable, self-monitoring systems that degrade gracefully and recover quickly.
• Own and evolve backend and frontend systems using Node, Next, React, and TypeScript, including scalable and secure APIs.
• Design, optimize, and operate PostgreSQL schemas, indexes, queries, and safe migrations.
• Architect Google Cloud infrastructure with Terraform and harden Auth0 authentication and authorization flows.
• Mentor engineers, develop technical leads, run architecture reviews, and collaborate with Product, Ops, Finance, and Design.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience at Staff or Senior level, with a record of leading initiatives.
• Experience building high-stakes systems where reliability and correctness are critical.
• Strong JavaScript and TypeScript experience across frontend and backend systems.
• Production-scale cloud infrastructure experience, ideally with Google Cloud and Terraform or equivalent infrastructure as code.
• Strong relational database expertise and experience designing dependable APIs.
• Based in Berlin and willing to work in an office-first environment; fully proficient in English at C2 level.

Nice to have

• Experience with OAuth, OpenID Connect, SSO, session management, and related authentication protocols.
• German language skills.
