TL;DR
Lead Capital Equipment Technician (Metal Additive Manufacturing): Maintaining and troubleshooting Velo3D metal additive manufacturing systems with an accent on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, cooling, motion-control, and process systems. Focus on leading technicians, diagnosing complex equipment failures, coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance, and maximizing printer uptime in production.

Location: Fremont, California, United States; on-site

Hourly rate: $40.00–$50.00

What you will do

  • Provide day-to-day technical leadership for the RPS technician team.
  • Mentor and train new and junior technicians on equipment operation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and safe work practices.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs on metal additive manufacturing systems.
  • Coordinate maintenance priorities and resources to support production, printer availability, and on-time delivery.
  • Maintain work orders, equipment logs, maintenance records, and service documentation.
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and communicate recommendations to Engineering and management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of experience maintaining complex manufacturing or capital equipment in a production environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, cooling, motion-control, and process systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot sensors, motors, VFDs, relays, PLC-controlled systems, and industrial control hardware.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring and pneumatic diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong organizational, communication, prioritization, computer proficiency, and root-cause analysis skills.
