Laboratory Assistant

Location: On-site in South Plainfield, New Jersey, United States. Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM.

Salary: $19–$23 per hour for US-based candidates. The final range may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and location.

What you will do

• Receive and log biological specimen shipments from multiple carriers according to standard operating procedures.
• Verify specimen integrity, labeling, test orders, and required documentation.
• Accession specimens in the Laboratory Information System, assigning identifiers and linking samples to patients and test orders.
• Sort, prioritize, aliquot, centrifuge, label, and distribute specimens to the appropriate laboratory departments.
• Communicate discrepancies, missing information, and urgent specimen issues to laboratory staff and the user experience team.
• Maintain sample records and support inventory, storage, disposal, and other laboratory operations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Clinical laboratory or healthcare experience is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with laboratory procedures, medical terminology, and specimen handling.
• Data-entry proficiency and comfort using laboratory information systems.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift packages up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Nice to have

• Associate degree or completion of a laboratory assistant training program.
