Corporate Counsel (Fintech)

Location: San Francisco, California; primarily on-site. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Salary: $220,000–$270,000 annual base salary plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Advise cross-functional teams on state and federal servicing and collections requirements, and draft related policies and procedures.
• Monitor escalations, identify systemic risks, investigate gaps, and manage remediation efforts.
• Optimize the triage, investigation, and resolution of escalations and manage contentious matters, working with outside counsel when appropriate.
• Review agreements with servicing and collections vendors, debt buyers, and other third parties, including SLA and debt-sale documentation requirements.
• Draft and review consumer notices and communications related to hardship, deferral, re-age, and charge-off programs.
• Test and implement AI features, agents, playbooks, and automated workflows for legal and servicing operations.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership; New York or California admission is preferred.
• 8+ years of legal experience, including meaningful experience at a top-tier law firm and in-house at a high-growth technology or fintech company.
• Demonstrated experience advising on servicing, collections, and litigation matters in consumer finance.
• Strong business judgment and the ability to identify material legal risks and propose practical solutions.
• Experience with AI and building automated workflows.
• Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage a high-volume, multi-workstream portfolio.
