Software Engineer, Backend (Java)

Location: Prague, Czech Republic; primarily in-office at the Prague office

What you will do

• Develop high-throughput, multi-threaded Java and Spring middleware connecting FlashArray and FlashBlade platforms.
• Build and maintain versioned REST API specifications, developer workflows, and SDKs for CLI, GUI, and cloud interfaces.
• Design, implement, and test fault-tolerant backend software for mission-critical systems targeting six 9s reliability.
• Extend core storage capabilities into public cloud integrations, including AWS Cloud Block Store.
• Refactor backend services, improve performance, and use modern developer automation tools.
• Collaborate with local and global engineering teams through code reviews, technical discussions, and feature planning.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of software architecture, data structures, and distributed systems design.
• Hands-on experience developing, testing, and debugging high-performance backend software and RESTful APIs using Java, Spring, or similar object-oriented frameworks.
• Willingness to work across multiple programming languages, including Python, C++, or Go.
• Practical understanding of cloud-native paradigms, container orchestration, or Linux system internals.
• Strong analytical, communication, and collaborative problem-solving skills.
• Expected to work primarily from the Prague office, except during approved leave, PTO, or work travel.
