Software Engineer, Autonomous Systems (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; San Francisco office location listed. Must be eligible to work in the United States.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and optimize software across the autonomy stack, with a focus on real-time systems running on autonomous trucks.
• Build on-vehicle data logging and recording systems.
• Develop hermetic build, cross-compilation, packaging, and deployment pipelines for vehicle compute platforms.
• Profile and improve end-to-end performance, including IPC latency, compute throughput, and disk I/O.
• Write tests, improve CI reliability, and integrate on-vehicle, cloud, and fleet-facing systems.
• Collaborate with ML and controls engineers on sensor, inference, firmware-facing, connectivity, and vehicle-to-cloud integrations.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong proficiency in Rust or C++ and experience shipping low-latency, concurrent software on Linux.
• Knowledge of real-time scheduling, inter-process communication, synchronization primitives, and latency-sensitive debugging.
• Experience with Linux systems software, hardware-adjacent infrastructure, sensor or compute platform bring-up, or similar close-to-hardware systems.
• Eligibility to work in the United States is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with autonomous vehicles, mobile robots, or safety-critical systems.
• Sensor integration, GPU-accelerated compute, or production AI model deployment experience.
• Experience with shared-memory transport, high-throughput pub-sub systems, cloud infrastructure, networking, or vehicle-to-cloud pipelines.
• Experience with Bazel, hermetic builds, cross-compilation, Linux packaging, or deployment.
• Comfort working as a software generalist on a small, high-ownership team.
