Senior Software Engineer, Platform (Java/Scala)

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States; at least four days per week on-site

What you will do

• Build robust, scalable backend services in Java and Scala for mission-critical operations.
• Design and implement high-performance gRPC APIs using Protobuf for real-time service communication.
• Use Redis and MySQL for reliable, low-latency data storage and retrieval.
• Deploy and manage scalable, resilient microservices on Kubernetes.
• Build Kafka-based event-driven architectures for real-time data streaming and processing.
• Partner with Hardware, Machine Learning, and Operations teams while analyzing performance, scalability, reliability, and data-integrity bottlenecks.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend development experience, preferably with platform or core services.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong expertise in Java and Scala or comparable industry-standard programming languages.
• Experience building gRPC APIs and designing services for reliable inter-service communication.
• Strong database design and optimization skills with Redis and MySQL.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Kafka, complex technical problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• Frontend integration experience with frameworks such as Next.js.
