TL;DR
Autonomy Engineer (Robotics): Building and improving end-to-end autonomy stacks for robotic systems operating in real solar environments with an accent on perception, planning, control, and embedded-system constraints. Focus on deploying autonomy software to physical robots, debugging real-world behavior, and accelerating iteration through simulation, log replay, and data pipelines.

Location: Folsom, California, USA

Annual salary: $160,000–$190,000

What you will do

  • Develop and improve autonomy capabilities across perception, planning, and control.
  • Deploy and validate autonomy systems on physical robots in field and test environments.
  • Debug issues observed during real-world robotic operation and improve system reliability.
  • Build and use simulation, log replay, data pipelines, and performance visualization to accelerate iteration.
  • Collaborate with hardware, integration, and test teams to deliver system-level performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience developing software for robotics, autonomy, or related real-world systems.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one of C, C++, Python, or Rust.
  • Strong experience with Linux command-line environments, Git, Docker, and ROS2-based systems.
  • Hands-on experience with physical robotic systems and complex system debugging.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience with perception systems, including terrain classification, object detection and tracking, and semantic environment understanding.
  • Experience with embedded inference optimization using CUDA, TensorRT, or ONNX Runtime.
  • Experience designing control, path planning, multi-robot coordination, sensor fusion, localization, or state estimation systems.
  • Experience with Gazebo, CI/CD, test-driven development, networking, and deployed outdoor field robotics.
