TL;DR
Solutions Architect, 4G/5G NTN - Spacetime UK (4G/5G NTN, SATCOM, 3GPP): Defining end-to-end architectures for non-terrestrial networks spanning space and ground segments, RAN, core, transport, and service orchestration with an accent on Direct-to-Cell, multi-orbit satellite systems, and cloud-native telecom platforms. Focus on designing RRM and beam-management capabilities, translating customer requirements into Spacetime implementations, and resolving spectrum, mobility, Doppler, delay, and interference challenges.
Location: Hybrid in London, England, with remote working permitted within the United Kingdom. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

What you will do
- Define end-to-end NTN and SATCOM architectures across space segment, ground segment, RAN, core, transport, and service layers.
- Lead customer architecture engagements and projects for LEO, GEO, MEO, multi-orbit, 4G/5G, NTN, Direct-to-Cell, and future 6G systems.
- Own architectural blueprints, interfaces, system decomposition, requirements translation, and technical trade-off analyses for the Spacetime platform.
- Design and optimize RRM, scheduling, beam management, mobility, interference coordination, spectrum reuse, and coexistence mechanisms.
- Define cloud-native network orchestration, automation, FCAPS, APIs, and inter-domain coordination interfaces.
- Lead technical proposals, customer and partner discussions, public-sector grant applications, and reviews across engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
Requirements
- Strong experience with 4G/5G mobile network architecture, including RAN and core networks.
- Proven SATCOM system architecture experience across space and ground systems, with deep knowledge of 3GPP architectures, protocols, and interfaces.
- Hands-on understanding of PHY/MAC, scheduling, mobility, beamforming, interference, RAN OAM, control-plane concepts, and networking interfaces.
- Experience producing architecture documents, system diagrams, technical specifications, and implementable technical designs.
- Understanding of cloud-native technologies, NFV, orchestration, automation, and network automation APIs.
- Strong communication and leadership skills for working with telco, satcom, defense, engineering, product, partner, and business stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Direct experience with NTN, SCS, Direct-to-Cell, 3GPP Rel-17+ NTN enhancements, or satellite constellations.
- Knowledge of O-RAN SMO, RIC, xApps/rApps, GSMA APIs, and network orchestration APIs.
- Experience with simulation, modeling, digital-twin, software development, scripting, or radio and network planning tools.
- Relevant patents or publications in satellite and mobile communications.
