Senior Product Security Engineer (UAS)

Location: Huntington Beach, California, United States; on-site

Salary: $150,000–$175,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end product security across unmanned aircraft systems, including embedded systems, flight software, APIs, backend services, and cloud infrastructure.
• Design secure architectures for device identity, authentication, authorization, and data protection.
• Conduct security assessments across software, firmware, and hardware through application testing, code review, and adversarial analysis.
• Integrate automated security testing, scanning, and policy enforcement into CI/CD pipelines.
• Secure communications, telemetry, and over-the-air update mechanisms across distributed systems.
• Develop security tooling, partner with software, hardware, and firmware teams, and lead cross-functional initiatives while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in product security, application security, or security engineering.
• Programming experience in Python, C/C++, Rust, Go, or similar languages.
• Experience securing APIs, microservices, distributed platforms, embedded systems, firmware, and Linux-based environments.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps, production-grade systems, and vulnerability assessment across application, network, and hardware-software boundaries.
• Ability to independently own large initiatives and familiarity with NIST or similar security frameworks.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and eligible to obtain a U.S. Secret clearance; employment may require authorization under U.S. export control laws without sponsorship for an export license.

Nice to have

• IoT/OT penetration testing expertise and experience in UAS, aerospace, robotics, or defense.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, cloud security, edge-to-cloud architectures, or AI/ML system security.
• Familiarity with RF communications security, FPGA or GPU-based systems, and Terraform.
• Experience leading engineering teams.
