Staff Product Development Engineer (Aerospace & Defense)

Location: Devens, Massachusetts, United States; onsite role

Annual base salary: $124,800–$171,600, plus equity and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do

• Own customer products from initial concept through serial production as the primary technical authority.
• Develop additive, post-processing, and quality processes that maximize customer value and enable repeatable, qualified production.
• Evaluate early-stage opportunities, define new product introduction paths, and keep technical development on track.
• Apply Design for Manufacturing principles with automation, machining, finishing, and external vendor partners.
• Support metrology selection, production flow, root-cause investigations, CAPA, First Article Inspections, and production launches.
• Execute change orders and improve product development processes to increase consistency and efficiency.

Requirements

• 6+ years of progressive hands-on experience in product or applications development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Aerospace, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
• Expert proficiency in advanced 3D CAD software such as Siemens NX, Creo, or SolidWorks.
• Deep mastery of GD&T, statistical process capability, tolerance stack-up analysis, and complex DFM/DfAM constraints.
• Strong knowledge of subtractive manufacturing, including 5-axis milling, turning, EDM, and integration with additive workflows.
• Leadership and communication skills to influence technical roadmaps, align multidisciplinary stakeholders, and mentor engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience with LPBF or similar additive manufacturing technologies.
• Experience with build-preparation tools such as Magics, nTopology, or Amphyon.
