ML Compiler Engineer (AI)

Location: San Jose, California or Austin, Texas; full-time onsite position

Salary: $250,000–$315,000 base salary plus equity

What you will do

• Lead development of compiler toolchains for a custom LLM accelerator architecture.
• Design compiler components, including IR dialects, graph transformations, lowering passes, and custom backends.
• Develop optimization strategies that connect software algorithms with hardware implementations.
• Optimize computational graphs and memory access patterns for hybrid optical-electronic hardware.
• Integrate the compiler with PyTorch, JAX, Triton, and custom inference engines.
• Build automated testing and continuous integration infrastructure for compiler correctness and performance.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of compiler development experience.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and C.
• Experience with hardware compilers, compiler frameworks, and code optimization.
• Understanding of LLM architectures, computer architecture, memory hierarchies, and parallel computing.
• Experience with AI/ML accelerators such as GPUs, TPUs, or FPGAs and their programming models.

Nice to have

• PhD in Computer Science or a related field and 7+ years of industry experience.
• Experience with graph theory, graph rewriting, DAG optimization, MLIR, and AST processing.
• Experience debugging and instrumenting parallel programs.
• Knowledge of LLM quantization, neural network optimization, high-performance computing, or low-latency system design.
• Experience with structured, human-supervised AI or agentic coding workflows.
