V&V Engineer, Mechanical (Automotive)

What you will do

• Characterize vehicles and derive mechanical requirements at module and component level with bidirectional traceability to test evidence.
• Own mechanical DVP&R planning and execute functional and performance testing for vibration, shock, thermal, and environmental conditions.
• Build and maintain custom test fixturing and troubleshoot mechanical functionality, compatibility, and performance issues.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions, documenting and presenting test results to design teams and program leadership.
• Partner with design, systems, quality, and software engineers to integrate mechanical V&V and Design for Test into wider programs.
• Develop the mechanical V&V methodology, laboratory capabilities, and toolchain, and assess OEM DV/PV processes.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a mechanical V&V role, preferably in automotive or heavy vehicles.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
• Understanding of automotive DV/PV, PPAP, and APQP processes.
• Experience working directly with automotive OEMs and Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers.
• Knowledge of automotive environmental and safety standards, including ASTM B117, SAE J1455, or MIL-STD-810, as well as AEC standards.
• Experience characterizing vehicles to establish environmental requirements and adapting V&V processes for different OEMs.

Nice to have

• Agile/Scrum experience and technical experience with self-driving vehicles.
• NRTL/UL and CE certification experience.
• Experience with SolidWorks, ANSYS, Polarion, HIL test benches, and automated regression testing.
• Experience with accelerated life testing, HALT/HASS, Weibull or reliability demonstration analysis, FMEA, FTA, RCA, or FEA.
• Experience with CANbus, Python, Shell, and Unix OS.
