Business-Minded Deal Lawyer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in the San Francisco Bay Area; San Francisco preferred, with flexibility on location. Regular travel to government partners and hirify.global offices is expected.

hirify.global builds AI-native operating systems for large, regulated institutions, powered by workflow-focused agents and the proprietary Atlas platform.

What you will do

• Build hirify.global’s first in-house legal function and establish foundational legal processes.
• Negotiate complex commercial contracts, strategic partnerships, and high-value deals with Sales, Business Development, Finance, and executives.
• Advise on employment matters, including offer letters, contractor agreements, equity grants, policies, and terminations.
• Support fundraising transactions, including term sheets, SAFEs, and equity financing documents.
• Review and negotiate commercial leases and coordinate outside counsel.
• Advise product teams developing AI-assisted legal and regulatory tools.

Requirements

• J.D. and active bar membership; California admission or eligibility to waive in is strongly preferred.
• 5–8 years of legal experience combining large law firm and in-house technology company experience.
• Strong experience negotiating complex commercial contracts, preferably in SaaS, AI, or enterprise software.
• Experience leading major deal negotiations with C-level executives and advising legal and non-legal stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with a pragmatic approach to legal risk.
• Proactive, hands-on ownership and comfort navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced startup environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI, data privacy, or regulatory frameworks, including DPAs, BAAs, and security provisions.
• Experience supporting business development or strategic partnership teams.
• Background in or adjacent to regulated industries, government agencies, or policy institutions.
• Comfort and effectiveness working directly with customers.
