Director of Data Science Production Engineering (Bioinformatics)

Location: US Remote. Emergency availability is required during early morning, late evening, and weekend extended hours, but not general extended-hours availability.

Salary: $186,300–$232,900 USD per year.

What you will do

• Direct and mentor a team of 10+ data science support engineers and analysts across standard and extended operational shifts.
• Lead the team during critical production incidents and emergency events.
• Develop operational visibility and efficiency tools using AWS QuickSight, Streamlit, or equivalent technologies.
• Manage analytics workflows on Snowflake and AWS services including Redshift, Athena, Batch, EC2, and S3.
• Improve procedures, quality controls, documentation, and operational effectiveness.
• Represent Extended-Hours Support in stakeholder meetings and translate analytical results into actionable recommendations.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Operations Research.
• 8+ years of relevant industry experience with a master’s degree, or 4+ years with a doctorate.
• 3+ years operating in a CLIA- and/or FDA-compliant regulated environment.
• 3+ years managing medium-sized engineering or analyst teams in production support or operational roles.
• Proficiency in data analysis, statistical techniques, Python, SQL, Snowflake, and AWS cloud analytics tooling.
• Working knowledge of diagnostic laboratory processes and genomic or bioinformatics technologies.

Nice to have

• Doctorate degree.
• Experience developing dashboards and analytical tools with AWS QuickSight or Streamlit.
