Senior Web Designer / Developer / Drupal / Section 508

Location: Remote within the United States; U.S. citizenship required. Remote network access is treated by DHS as a privilege rather than a contractual guarantee and may be performed at assigned or designated locations.

What you will do

• Maintain public Drupal websites by publishing reports, statistical tables, and interactive data visualizations.
• Execute Drupal core upgrades, custom module patches, code updates, and security remediation.
• Remediate Section 508 and WCAG accessibility issues, including focus order, alt text, form labels, keyboard navigation, and table layouts.
• Manage change requests and coordinate code promotions across development, testing, and production environments.
• Build semantic web layouts with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Twig, and Drupal templates.
• Perform regression testing, software validation, quality assurance, and continuous monitoring before and after releases.

Requirements

• 7+ years of web development experience with substantial, recent production Drupal administration and programming.
• Expert knowledge of Drupal administration, module development, Composer, and Drush.
• Strong skills in semantic HTML5, modern CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and Twig template architectures.
• Hands-on experience testing and remediating WCAG Level A/AA, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader accessibility defects.
• Knowledge of Section 508 standards, WCAG 2.0/2.1 AA criteria, Accessibility Conformance Reports, VPATs, and Trusted Tester methodology.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to complete DHS suitability, background investigation, and Entry-on-Duty requirements.

Nice to have

• DHS Trusted Tester certification or extensive experience with Trusted Tester automation suites.
• Experience with public-sector digital environments or civilian agency web architectures.
• Experience with CI/CD pipeline triggers and secure cloud configuration environments.
