Member of Technical Staff - Forward Deployed Scientist (AI)

Salary: $170,000–$275,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Partner with enterprise biotech and pharma customers to understand scientific workflows and translate their needs into product requirements.
• Build and curate biomedical skills, tools, databases, and data integrations for AI agents.
• Design benchmarks and evaluation pipelines, and conduct direct scientific reviews of agent outputs.
• Validate scientific accuracy and rigor, then drive product improvements with the AI team.
• Run customer training sessions, scope solutions, and own delivery from initial hypothesis through production.
• Provide scientific leadership across customer engagements, deployments, and product feedback loops.

Requirements

• PhD in a relevant field, MD/PhD, or equivalent qualification.
• Industry experience in biotech or pharma, including computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related function.
• Strong engineering skills, including writing code, building pipelines, and working with biological data at scale.
• Experience working directly with enterprise customers and translating scientific needs into technical requirements.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to scientists and executives.
• Deep expertise in at least one area: drug discovery, IND-enabling research, or clinical and translational science.

Nice to have

• AI-native working style and fluency with modern AI coding tools and agent-based workflows.
• Experience with LLMs, agents, or AI/ML systems applied to biomedical problems.
• Familiarity with genomic foundation models, protein language models, or pathology and imaging vision models.
• Expertise across multiple biomedical domains or more than one drug R&D area.
• Experience with relevant methods and tools such as docking, RFdiffusion, ProteinMPNN, ESM, PBPK, QSP, Simcyp, GastroPlus, NONMEM, epidemiology, biostatistics, CDISC, or digital biomarkers.
