Test Engineer

Location: Rochester, NY, United States

Salary: $75,000–$105,000 USD annually, plus eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus

What you will do

• Support and coordinate technical projects involving test equipment deployment, product transitions, service readiness, and capability expansion.
• Work with technical support engineers and service technicians worldwide to troubleshoot test problems.
• Verify and validate duplicate test systems before deployment, ensuring accuracy, repeatability, and reliability.
• Develop and document hardware modifications, software updates, test station procedures, and service instructions.
• Use LabVIEW or similar automated test platforms to diagnose unit-under-test and test stand issues.
• Design, build, and improve test fixtures, and define equipment, software, and facility requirements for new products.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• At least 2 years of related experience.
• Experience supporting or leading technical projects and coordinating multiple cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, analytical, collaboration, autonomy, and prioritization skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
• Ability to work with electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and laboratory test equipment; candidates generally must reside in a state where MKS is registered to do business.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, waveform generators, or DAQ hardware.
• Familiarity with vacuum systems, pressure and flow measurement, and control systems.
• Additional project management experience.
