Senior Process Engineer (Energetics)

Location: Onsite in Pueblo, Colorado, United States. Travel up to 15% within the continental United States.

Salary: $115,000–$140,000 USD base salary per year, excluding benefits and bonus/incentive.

What you will do

• Own process engineering from feasibility and early development through scale-up, qualification, and production readiness.
• Design and implement manufacturing processes, procedures, tooling, and systems for solid rocket motors and energetic materials.
• Lead the transition from development and pilot scale to full production, defining process controls, qualification criteria, and readiness gates.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to improve safety, quality, reliability, cost, throughput, yield, defect rates, and cycle time.
• Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions, process specifications, technical reports, and production documentation.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians in process engineering, safe energetic-material handling, and manufacturing practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline with 7 years of relevant experience; alternatively, a relevant master’s degree with 5 years of experience or 11 years of hands-on experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience leading process development and scale-up from feasibility through production qualification.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, structured root cause analysis, and corrective action methods such as 8D, fishbone, or 5-Why.
• Ability to analyze process data, make engineering decisions, and drive continuous improvement in low-volume or novel manufacturing environments.
• Must be able to meet U.S. explosives-license, background-investigation, drug-free workplace, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the authorizations required under ITAR. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work with required personal protective equipment is also required.

Nice to have

• Experience with energetic materials, solid rocket motor propellant chemistry, or hazardous manufacturing environments.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification with experience in automated production environments.
