Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Residency Program

Location: Hybrid work in Vienna, Virginia, with in-person work at the Frederick, Maryland clinic up to 3 days per week as needed. 12 of 40 weekly hours must be scheduled after 4 p.m. ET on weekdays or at any time on weekends.

Salary: $100,000–$112,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and diagnoses for children, adolescents, and young adults.
• Create personalized treatment plans, including medication and other clinical interventions.
• Collaborate with psychotherapists and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals on integrated care and medication management.
• Provide education and consultation to patients and families.
• Manage diagnostic testing, digital results, and laboratory results.
• Participate in residency, supervisory, and weekly clinical team meetings while maintaining confidential HIPAA-compliant records.

Requirements

• National certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
• Master’s degree from an accredited nursing program, such as a PMHNP or Master’s in Nurse Practitioner program.
• Graduated within approximately the last 12 months or have less than one year of PMHNP work experience.
• Active PMHNP license and DEA registration in Virginia, or a clear path to obtaining them before the residency begins.
• Strong communication skills, openness to feedback, and ability to work collaboratively and independently.
• Commitment to the 12-month residency plus an additional two years with Blackbird Clinical Services after successful completion.
