Senior Propulsion Component Test Engineer

Location: El Segundo, California, United States. Applicants must be U.S. persons under ITAR requirements.

What you will do

• Design and build test rigs, fixtures, and fluid loops for hydraulic and pneumatic propulsion hardware.
• Specify instrumentation and data acquisition systems for flow, pressure, temperature, and position measurements.
• Develop test plans and procedures for development, qualification, and acceptance testing.
• Lead flow, pressure, leakage, proof, burst, endurance, and environmental test campaigns, including DO-160 and applicable MIL-STD testing.
• Ensure safe execution of high-pressure and hazardous-fluid operations.
• Analyze test data, quantify uncertainty, author reports, support root cause analysis, and mentor junior test engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of test engineering experience involving propulsion components, fluids, hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical hardware.
• Hands-on experience designing test rigs and working with instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
• Strong knowledge of fluid measurement, uncertainty analysis, and test data reduction.
• Experience planning and executing qualification test campaigns.
• Must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR regulations, including U.S. citizenship, permanent residence, or protected-person status.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience with LabVIEW or comparable data acquisition and test automation tools.
• Familiarity with DO-160 environmental testing and MIL-STD test methods.
• Experience testing servo valves, actuators, or high-pressure fluid systems.
• Experience working across multiple manufacturing sites or factories.
