Foundry Engineer (Photonics)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States; flexible hybrid workplace model

Salary: $180,000–$212,000 USD per year, plus equity and other rewards.

What you will do

• Lead foundry process technology development, manufacturing strategies, and specifications for photonics-based AI platforms.
• Plan and execute silicon fabrication qualification from product definition through qualification and high-volume manufacturing.
• Establish process coverage, yield, reliability, and monitoring metrics for silicon products.
• Develop manufacturing solutions for integrated digital, analog, photonic, and laser devices.
• Collaborate with foundry suppliers, design-for-manufacturing, design, layout, packaging, platform engineering, and supply chain teams.
• Coordinate product tapeout to the foundry and develop silicon technology and capability roadmaps.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, materials engineering or science, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of industry experience, including at least 5 years of silicon process experience.
• Experience bringing products from first silicon to production.
• Strong experience collaborating with silicon foundries and knowledge of foundry processes, technologies, control plans, and silicon-related failures.
• Understanding of packaging technology, assembly processes, packaging materials, quality and reliability standards, and packaging failure mechanisms.
• Ability to comply with federally mandated U.S. export control requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience as a foundry manufacturing process or process development/integration engineer.
• Experience with photonics laser foundries and package integration.
• Master’s or PhD in chemistry, materials science, or physics.
