Field Service Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Dallas, Texas, United States; hybrid workplace with onsite system installation and field deployment. Travel of more than 60%, including weekends, is required.

What you will do

• Support autonomous vehicle testing by operating and riding in Class 8 semi-trucks, monitoring system performance, checking sensor health, and accumulating test mileage.
• Prepare vehicles for complex demonstrations and fleet maintenance, ensuring that systems and sensors are operational.
• Support onsite installations and field deployments while coordinating with third-party installers, customers, and end users.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and electrical issues affecting autonomous vehicle systems and develop real-time mitigation and corrective actions with engineering.
• Analyze field data and reliability issues, escalating concise findings to engineering teams.
• Create daily reports, engineering tickets, SOPs, installation and repair documentation, and procedures for programming, calibration, testing, and engineering changes.

Requirements

• BS or MS in a STEM-related field, such as engineering or computer science, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Relevant experience in analysis, engineering, or technical system testing; automotive or autonomous vehicle experience is preferred.
• Strong Linux command-line skills and experience with software version control systems such as Git.
• Familiarity with Docker, Python, Bash, and automotive software-based diagnostic systems.
• Experience with Google Workspace, Jira, and Confluence, combined with strong information analysis, organization, and documentation skills.
• Ability to lift more than 80 pounds, repeatedly enter and exit Class 8 vehicles, hold a valid driver's license with a clean record, and rent a car for business travel.
