TL;DR
Ground & Flight Test Engineer, Integration & Safety (Aerospace): Planning and executing ground and flight test campaigns for autonomous spacecraft and space-based interceptors with an accent on integrated test planning, hardware/software interfaces, and system safety. Focus on developing hazard analyses and range safety submissions, leading test readiness reviews, coordinating U.S. Government and range stakeholders, and driving anomaly investigations and corrective actions.

Location: Denver, CO or Long Beach, CA, with primary work at facilities in Centennial, CO and Long Beach, CA. The role also requires significant and potentially extended travel to Huntsville, AL, supplier sites, test ranges, and other operating locations. ITAR eligibility requires U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.

Salary: $120,000–$195,000 base salary per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute ground and flight test campaigns for the Space-Based Interceptor program.
  • Develop test requirements, plans, procedures, schedules, data-reduction approaches, and post-test reports.
  • Lead integration planning across hardware, software, and ground support equipment, ensuring interfaces are defined and validated.
  • Coordinate test site readiness, range scheduling, instrumentation, resources, and anomaly response with government customers, range authorities, and suppliers.
  • Support test readiness reviews, safety reviews, mishap and failure investigations, and corrective-action activities.
  • Serve as the primary integration and safety liaison across test activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • 8–14 years of experience planning and executing ground or flight tests for complex aerospace or defense systems.
  • Experience developing test plans, procedures, and reports for integrated flight systems.
  • Experience with hardware/software integration, interface verification, system safety coordination, hazard analysis, and range safety documentation.
  • Familiarity with verification and validation methodologies and requirements traceability, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain or obtain TS//SCI clearance.

Nice to have

  • Experience with missile defense, interceptors, space weapons, or highly integrated flight-test programs.
  • Range operations, flight-test execution, or on-orbit demonstration experience.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-882, MIL-STD-1540, Range Commanders Council safety standards, or equivalent standards.
  • Experience working with range safety organizations, USSF, MDA, or DoD program offices.
  • Experience with anomaly resolution, mishap investigations, or failure review boards.
