Medical Director, Clinical AI

Location: New York, NY; hybrid role with 3 days per week in the NYC office. NYC-based candidates or candidates willing to relocate are expected.

Salary: $275,000–$325,000 USD base pay per year, plus incentive bonus, stock options, benefits, and applicable incentive pay.

What you will do

• Own clinical protocols, guidelines, quality standards, outcomes measurement, and protocol refinement across hirify.global’s care programs.
• Provide clinical oversight for care teams, complex cases, medication-assisted treatment, and AI-driven care programs.
• Serve as the clinical authority in AI product development, including design reviews, prompt iteration, annotation, and model output evaluation.
• Define AI clinical governance, safety protocols, routing logic, escalation pathways, QA standards, and documentation requirements.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, Clinical Research, Growth, and Care Management on safe, evidence-based care delivery.
• Develop the workflows, hiring plan, and contributor pool needed to grow the Clinical AI function over the next 12–18 months.

Requirements

• MD, DO, or Ph.D. with an active, unrestricted license in good standing and board certification in Addiction Medicine, Psychiatry, or a closely related specialty.
• At least 7 years of clinical experience, with leadership experience in digital health, health tech, or a multi-site clinical setting preferred.
• Deep expertise in substance use disorder treatment, including MAT/MOUD protocols.
• Familiarity with co-occurring mental health conditions, CBT, and motivational interviewing.
• Experience collaborating with AI or technology product and engineering teams; ability to iterate on prompts, evaluate model outputs, and understand LLM capabilities and failure modes in clinical contexts.
• Multi-state licensure or willingness to obtain it is preferred.

• Experience with value-based care models, employer-sponsored health programs, or health plan contracting.
• Prior leadership experience in a digital health, health tech, or multi-site clinical environment.
