Ground Software Manager (UAS)

Location: Torrance, California, United States

Salary: $198,000–$277,500 USD per year, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Lead and grow the Ground Software engineering team through hiring, mentorship, and performance management.
• Own the architecture and delivery of the Ground Control Station and operator-facing software across desktop and ruggedized field platforms.
• Develop low-latency video and sensor display pipelines with clear, usable operator experiences under field stress.
• Build multi-vehicle and swarm workflows and integrate with external command-and-control systems and tools such as ATAK.
• Drive reliable software releases, code quality, testing, and CI/CD practices.
• Define the team’s unit and integration testing strategy in partnership with the Test organization.

Requirements

• Experience leading a software team as a hands-on manager while owning people management and technical direction.
• Strong background building user-facing or operator-facing software for mission-critical, field-deployed, real-time, or other high-stakes environments.
• Hands-on expertise in operator UX, real-time or low-latency video, or telemetry and command pipelines.
• Track record of shipping reliable software on demanding deadlines for physical hardware and field use.
• Strong judgment regarding test rigor, technical debt, and quality in operationally critical software.
• Ability to connect the engineering team with senior leadership, manage expectations, and remove execution blockers.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ground Control Station or UAS operator software, including ATAK/TAK, QGroundControl, or Mission Planner.
• Low-latency video pipeline experience with RTSP, WebRTC, GStreamer, or similar technologies.
• Geospatial or mapping experience, including offline maps, tactical overlays, and terrain.
• Multi-vehicle or swarm operator UX experience.
• Experience integrating external C2 or military command systems.
