Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Relocation support may be available for new hires.
Salary: $104,000–$145,000 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

What you will do
- Perform mission flight safety analyses focused on failure-mode trajectory modeling and debris field containment.
- Develop regulatory strategies, Methods of Compliance, and safety cases for FAA launch and reentry authorizations.
- Complete vehicle-level Functional Hazard Analyses and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses.
- Serve as the Flight Safety responsible engineer during mission rehearsals and live recovery operations.
- Define technical safety limits and mission rules for real-time on-console operations.
- Prepare vehicle-level deliverables for regulatory organizations supporting reentry licenses and authorizations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, systems engineering, or a related field.
- Ownership and execution of a complex engineering project from cradle to grave.
- Strong experience with risk management methodologies and tools, including FMEA, FHA, and Fault Tree Analysis.
- Experience integrating interdisciplinary systems in the aerospace industry.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to influence cross-functional teams and present to executives, customers, and regulators.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.
Nice to have
- Experience with FAA Part 450, expected casualty modeling, trajectory dispersion, or debris analysis.
- Experience with safety-critical mission operations in aviation or space applications.
- Experience with FCC Part 25 or Part 5 licensing for satellite and reentry communications.
- Experience applying lean quality practices without compromising safety or reliability.
