Lead Perception Engineer (Robotics)

hirify.global is a high-growth Series A startup and ETH Zurich spin-out developing autonomous heavy construction machines through learning-based automation and augmented remote control.

What you will do

• Lead the design, prototyping, and deployment of real-time perception and deep learning algorithms for autonomous construction machines.
• Develop perception capabilities including 3D object detection and tracking, semantic segmentation, visual and LiDAR odometry, mapping, state estimation, and sensor calibration.
• Lead the perception team and agile development process while managing timelines, priorities, and resources.
• Establish testing procedures and performance metrics to ensure robust production behavior.
• Oversee the integration of new sensors and configurations into the perception stack.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary experts and support hiring to build the perception team.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience developing and implementing robust perception algorithms.
• Production-quality C++ and Python development in a Linux environment.
• Extensive experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow using image and/or LiDAR data.
• Proven leadership in a collaborative small-team environment, with strong project management and cross-disciplinary communication skills.
• English proficiency is required for communication and collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience maintaining machine learning pipelines from data collection through model deployment.
• Experience with OpenCV, PCL, Open3D, ROS 2, or the NVIDIA hardware and software ecosystem.
