Spacecraft Firmware Engineer, C++

Salary: $131,000–$184,000 annually, plus potential stock options.

What you will do

• Develop reliable firmware controlling spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules throughout complete missions.
• Own software development from architecture and design through testing and integration.
• Capture requirements and perform initial design trade studies for open-ended problems.
• Build structured bare-metal, RTOS, or Linux-based software for embedded processors in C++.
• Develop highly reliable and available flight software systems.
• Ensure software quality and performance through testing, verification, and validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software.
• At least 3 years of experience developing spacecraft or comparable safety-critical software.
• Experience developing and testing real-time embedded hardware and software systems.
• Professional C++ development experience and strong knowledge of C++ language concepts.
• Must be lawfully authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.

Nice to have

• Experience with safety-critical software, particularly in aerospace.
• Experience with Python or Rust.
• Strong knowledge of computer architecture, operating systems, data structures, and computer networking.
