TL;DR
Pilot (UAS) (autonomous cargo aircraft): Serving as the Remote Pilot in Command for developmental flight testing and operational demonstrations of autonomous cargo aircraft, with an accent on disciplined flight execution, airspace coordination, and operational safety. Focus on making go/no-go decisions, leading flight briefings and debriefings, supporting field test campaigns, and identifying aircraft anomalies for engineering teams.

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States. On-site role.

hirify.global develops and operates full-size autonomous cargo aircraft, including the Heron seaplane and Egret STOL aircraft, designed to carry two tons of payload over more than a thousand nautical miles.

What you will do

  • Serve as Remote Pilot in Command for developmental flight testing and operational demonstrations.
  • Execute flight test cards and maintain awareness of aircraft state, airspace, and test objectives.
  • Lead preflight briefings, postflight debriefings, flight readiness reviews, and go/no-go decisions.
  • Apply SOPs, emergency checklists, and crew resource management practices during flight operations.
  • Support range setup, communications infrastructure, airspace authorizations, COA applications, and test scheduling.
  • Review flight data, verify aircraft systems, and provide pilot perspective to avionics, propulsion, and engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated RPIC experience with UAS or RPAS platforms in operational or test environments.
  • FAA Part 107 certification, with familiarity with COA processes and experimental aircraft operations.
  • FAA Part 61 or Part 141 pilot certification at the Private, Commercial, or ATP level with multi-engine privileges.
  • Strong knowledge of airspace coordination, mission planning, and preflight risk assessment.
  • Ability to conduct disciplined, repeatable test operations in dynamic field environments.
  • Clear communication skills for leading briefings and debriefings with engineering and operations audiences.

Nice to have

  • RPIC experience with large or complex Group 3–5 UAS platforms.
  • Familiarity with telemetry systems, ground control station interfaces, autopilot behavior, and flight test configurations.
  • Experience with developmental aircraft field campaigns, instrumentation, data logging, or postflight analysis.
  • Knowledge of simulation environments for mission rehearsal or systems testing.
  • Aerospace, systems, or mechanical engineering background.
