FPV Technician (UAV)

Location: Torrance, California, United States; field-heavy work with multi-day deployments to remote test sites and occasional out-of-state travel

Salary: $70,304–$91,500 USD base salary per year

What you will do

• Build, repair, and maintain FPV drones, prototype aerial systems, and R&D test articles.
• Perform soldering, wiring, mechanical assembly, pre-flight inspections, and post-flight functional checks.
• Support test pilots and engineers during flight campaigns as a Visual Observer and ground-support technician; this is not a Pilot-in-Command role.
• Set up and tear down field test sites, including staging areas, charging systems, equipment layouts, and communications checks.
• Track drones, ground-control stations, batteries, and peripherals, maintaining accurate serialization and equipment records.
• Document observations and flight data, attach blackbox and DVR records, and provide feedback on equipment reliability and test operations.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of UAV components and hands-on experience with soldering and mechanical assembly.
• Ability to operate power tools and shop machinery and drive large vehicles in off-road environments.
• Experience setting up and running field operations in unpredictable outdoor environments, including sustained high heat and long operating days.
• Excellent organization, documentation, communication, and attention to detail.
• Valid driver's license and ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to follow internal safety protocols and applicable FAA regulations.

Nice to have

• Strong hands-on FPV drone build experience, including larger 10-inch, 13-inch, and larger drones.
• Knowledge of Betaflight and ESC software.
• Acro FPV drone piloting experience.
• Experience with CAD and 3D printing.
• FAA Part 107 certification.
