Flight Software Engineer (Autonomous Aircraft)

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States. On-site position. Relocation support may be available.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and optimize autonomous flight software, including guidance, navigation, and control algorithms.
• Implement real-time decision-making for changing flight conditions and environmental factors.
• Integrate software with onboard sensors, actuators, and avionics for autonomous mission execution.
• Develop flight planning, collision avoidance, precision landing, and mission management systems.
• Test and validate software through simulation, hardware-in-the-loop setups, and real-world flight testing.
• Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with aerospace, avionics, and field testing teams.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience developing autonomous aircraft and flight control algorithms.
• Proficiency in C++, Python, or Rust for real-time embedded systems.
• Experience with ROS or similar autonomous systems middleware.
• Experience deploying GNC algorithms on autonomous aircraft platforms.
• Experience with flight simulation, HITL testing, and real-world autonomous flight testing.
• Knowledge of computer vision, sensor fusion, path planning, obstacle avoidance, adaptive control, and safety-critical aviation software.
