TL;DR
FPGA Development Tools Engineer (C/C++, HLS, LLVM): Developing and maintaining compiler infrastructure that transforms high-level code into optimized hardware implementations with an accent on compiler passes, code generation, and FPGA synthesis flows. Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Salary: $100,000–$130,000 CAD per year, plus performance-based incentive opportunities.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain high-level synthesis compiler infrastructure.
  • Implement compiler passes and code transformations that optimize high-level code for hardware synthesis.
  • Analyze and improve compilation flows from C/C++ to hardware description languages.
  • Research compiler technologies for AI computation workloads.
  • Integrate and test compiler features, focusing on performance and resource optimization.
  • Debug and validate compiler outputs, document work, and contribute to internal knowledge bases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Academic or project experience with C/C++ programming.
  • Familiarity with compiler concepts, including parsing, code generation, and optimization.
  • Knowledge of digital logic design fundamentals and FPGA/ASIC hardware flows.
  • Analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with MLIR, LLVM, or Clang.
  • Exposure to HLS tools such as Xilinx Vivado HLS or Intel HLS.
  • Basic understanding of Verilog or VHDL.
  • Coursework or internship experience in compiler development or hardware synthesis.
  • Experience with Git or other version control systems.
