AI Applications Engineer

Location: Glen Cove, New York, United States; on-site. Requires up to 50% domestic travel to customer sites.

Salary: $120,000–$150,000 per year, depending on experience, plus equity options.

What you will do

• Identify manufacturing use cases where computer vision, object detection, or visual language models can improve production processes.
• Design and build proofs of concept for AI-enabled robotic solutions.
• Install, configure, integrate, and commission robotic cells at customer sites.
• Own camera placement and calibration, model deployment, I/O configuration, testing, and project sign-off.
• Train customer operators and engineers and provide post-installation technical support.
• Collaborate with sales, software, applications engineering, and product teams on integrations, feature testing, and platform expansion.

Requirements

• Robot programming proficiency or adjacent software experience, including the ability to write Python independently.
• Hands-on prior experience with robotics, from educational robotics to professional manipulation systems.
• Working knowledge of convolutional neural networks, object detection, and visual language models.
• Technical proficiency in an engineering environment, including documentation, project ownership, and teamwork.
• Willingness to travel domestically up to 50% of the time.
• At least one specialization in mechanical design, electrical design, or machine vision.

Nice to have

• Experience with collaborative robots such as UR, Fanuc, KUKA, or ABB.
• Hands-on experience with Cognex, Basler, FLIR, or similar vision systems.
• Familiarity with ROS or other robotics middleware.
• Experience in manufacturing or industrial automation.
• Startup experience and experience building products with limited resources.
