Annotation Operations Lead

What you will do

• Own daily and weekly throughput reporting, including dataset progress and stakeholder scorecards.
• Manage the Encord pipeline end-to-end, including project configuration, SOPs, and dataset lifecycle management.
• Measure and improve operational metrics, identifying and resolving bottlenecks in the labeling process.
• Lead and scale the annotation team, starting with a small pod and growing to manage the full team of 12+ labelers.
• Handle performance management, hiring, onboarding, and payroll approvals for the team.
• Act as the primary point of contact for annotation platforms and external labeling vendors.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work onsite in Redwood City, CA.
• 3+ years of experience in operations, program management, or team management within data annotation or ML pipelines.
• Proven experience in direct people management, including hiring and performance coaching.
• Strong operational instincts with the ability to build repeatable processes and track metrics.
• Technical fluency in spreadsheets, basic SQL, and pipeline tools.
• Experience managing external vendors and third-party relationships.

Nice to have

• Exposure to robotics, computer vision, or imitation learning data.
• Experience automating manual operational workflows with scripts.
• Experience scaling an annotation team through a growth phase.
