Senior Cybersecurity Engineer II (Space Systems)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite role. U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements, and ITAR eligibility requirements apply.

Base pay range: $150,000–$227,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and manage security solutions for SDA program infrastructure, including networks, servers, and applications.
• Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests, then mitigate identified risks.
• Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, standards, and regulatory compliance controls.
• Monitor security systems, investigate incidents, and perform detailed remediation analysis.
• Integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle in collaboration with IT and development teams.
• Track emerging threats and technologies, recommend security improvements, and mentor junior security engineers and IT staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
• Active Secret security clearance is required upon hire.
• 8+ years of experience in system security engineering or a related role.
• 8140 Intermediate or Advanced certification, such as Security+, Cloud+, CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of security frameworks and standards, including NIST 800, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls.
• Experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, endpoint protection, cloud security across AWS, Azure, or GCP, and hybrid environments.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
• Experience with DevSecOps, incident response, digital forensics, scripting, and automation using Python or PowerShell.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and application security.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
