Staff System Software Engineer (RISC-V)

Location: Hsinchu, Taiwan. Right to work in Taiwan is required. Access to export-controlled technology is subject to applicable authorization and export license requirements.

hirify.global develops RISC-V processor cores and compute platforms for applications including artificial intelligence, machine learning, automotive, data centers, mobile, and consumer products.

What you will do

• Design, develop, upstream, and release system software for hirify.global processors.
• Develop Linux kernel components, device drivers, OpenSBI, U-Boot, and Yocto/OpenEmbedded software.
• Design and evaluate systems involving CPUs, interconnects, firewalls, and related intellectual property blocks.
• Collaborate with architecture, hardware engineering, and software engineering teams to refine and review features.
• Integrate software implementations with operating systems such as Linux and leverage processor hardware capabilities.

Requirements

• Expert knowledge of PCIe, Ethernet, and CXL interfaces.
• At least five years of experience developing architecture-level C code or device drivers for multiprocessor and multithreaded open source kernels such as Linux or BSD, including upstream contributions.
• Proven experience with upstream development for high-level operating systems such as Linux.
• Experience debugging complex multicore systems with GDB, JTAG, and OpenOCD.
• Experience with device drivers, virtualization, IOMMUs, Git, Makefiles, the GNU toolchain, and shell scripting.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience; strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with ACPI, UEFI, edk2, OpenBMC, and data center platforms.
