Manager, Environmental Health & Safety (Biomanufacturing)

What you will do

• Launch and lead the EHS program at a new biomanufacturing facility.
• Oversee biosafety, chemical safety, physical safety, occupational health, containment, decontamination, and regulated waste disposal for cell and gene therapy operations.
• Partner with process development, MSAT, and GMP manufacturing teams on technical safety reviews of equipment and operations.
• Conduct Job Hazard Analyses and risk evaluations for novel advanced therapies while managing OSHA, EPA, permitting, exposure protection, reporting, and waste-management compliance.
• Provide EHS input into laboratory and manufacturing suite design and function.
• Lead root-cause investigations, corrective and preventive actions, inspections, training, and EHS management-system implementation targeting ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certification.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, or a related scientific field.
• 8+ years of experience establishing new facilities for GMP manufacturing of biologics or cell and gene therapies.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate professional maturity.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work with colleagues at all levels.
• Ability to work onsite in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Nice to have

• Registered Biosafety Professional or Certified Biological Safety Professional certification.
• Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist certification.
