Lead Backend Developer (PHP / Symfony)

Location: Vilnius, hybrid

Salary: €6,500–€7,300 gross per month, with flexibility based on skills and competencies.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and support one Dashboard squad while remaining hands-on as a 50% individual contributor.
• Design and develop scalable, reliable, and maintainable Symfony backend systems.
• Own major features from technical design and RFCs through deployment and production support.
• Drive architecture decisions with the Principal Engineer and help complete the V3 architecture migration.
• Raise standards for code review, testing, incident response, and observability.
• Contribute to Dashboard-level architecture, including Payments integration and outbox/Kafka patterns.

Requirements

• Deep PHP experience with Symfony and practical MySQL skills, including query optimization, indexing, and large-scale migrations.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, and GitLab CI.
• Strong knowledge of event-driven patterns, outbox architecture, dual-database designs, and API design.
• Ability to guide technical decisions, review designs and code, and mentor senior and mid-level engineers.
• Clear communication, ownership, knowledge sharing, and constructive feedback skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with payments or billing systems.
• DevOps or SRE experience, or experience with multi-tenant self-service platforms.
